There is a great variety of acrylic awards to choose from. In it's simplest (but still appropriate) form, the acrylic award is an engraved clear acrylic rectangle attached to a base. From that point, the variations appear to be endless. Combinations include geometric shapes such as circles and parallelograms and irregular shapes that have a pleasing appearance.
Where originally only clear acrylic awards were available, jade and blue are now available in a variety of shapes and sizes. The awards have been further upgraded with the addition of a printed background, often in a marble pattern but also including solids and themes such as "Stars". There are also some attractive acrylic plaques available with solids and patterned backgrounds.
The reason for the proliferation of the acrylic award is the availability of laser engraving. This method, once relatively costly is now within the budget of most shops and the quality of laser on acrylic can not be matched.
Finally, acrylic items that have an "everyday" application are desk name plates, signs and paperweights. In the case of paperweights, a shop with acrylic blanks and a laser engraver can provide a small quantity of custom promotional items for a customer with virtually no advance notice.
